Ok, for those who don't already know, here's the deal: I got new life insurance and had to do blood work about a month ago. My insurance agent called and said my blood work came back weird and I received a D rating which means that I have the highest premium. I took the lab results to my doctor last Friday.
He took one look at them and said that I was diabetic. He wanted to verify it with his own test, but said 9 times out of 10 the insurance lab results was accurate. He said that I probably wouldn't see symptoms for another 5 to 10 yrs, but we should start treating it now with medication and diet.
I took a Glucose test on Monday and am going back to see him tomorrow.
I guess the struggle that I will have is watching what I eat. Because I'm addicted to the "DEW" and love sweets and candy, which will probably be off my list of things to eat. Being from the south, I also love Sweet Tea and people in Colorado come over to my house to drink "Jamey's Sweet Tea"! We bought some Splenda yesterday, which is outrageously expensive and made a gallon of Splenda Tea last night and it was pretty good. Tea problem solved!!
I also begin walking last week. You can follow how am doing there with the Daily Mile widget in the right sidebar. So far, we've walked 10 miles in two weeks. I believe that I need to lose between 20-25 pounds. My goal weight is 150.
I'll let ya know what the Doc say's. I am praying that the first lab results were wrong!
Also, Mike Haley, a college buddy and pastor in Fountain, CO, and I are headed up the Manitou Springs Incline on Friday, May 1st. The incline goes up 2,000 feet in one mile. I don't know if I can do it or not, but it's a challenge that I want to do and I don't like Mike showing me up. He did it a couple of weeks ago. I'll let ya know how that goes too!!

It is very fortunate that they found it early so you can do things to correct it before it becomes a bigger health issue. Once you give up sugar, it's not so bad. Diet Dew is pretty good. No sugar, same caffiene.
